Maintenance / Breakdown Engineer – Technical Service – Day Shift – Nijverdal

At our production site in Nijverdal, more than 45 extrusion blow moulding machines operate 24 hours a day. If something falters, that’s where you come in. Not because you have to — but because, as a breakdown engineer, you want to understand what’s happening and fix it properly.

• Troubleshooting and analysing faults on our extrusion blow moulding machines;
• Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance within production;
• Implementing technical improvements to machines and installations;
• Overhauling mechanical and electrical components;
• Contributing ideas to optimise processes;
• Maintaining contact with suppliers (German and English sometimes required).

You start your day with a short handover. What happened during the night shift? Any particular issues in production? Then you head onto the production floor.

A machine reports a fault. You calmly analyse the notification, check the controls and identify the root cause. No panic, no drama — just logical thinking. That’s what working as a breakdown engineer in a production environment is about.

Alongside resolving faults, you carry out preventive maintenance. You overhaul components, inspect installations and contribute to improvements. As a maintenance engineer in industry, you know: prevention is better than downtime.

You liaise with operators, occasionally with suppliers, and by the end of the day production is running as it should. That brings real satisfaction.

• MBO Level 4 qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or Control Engineering;
• At least 3 years’ experience as a Breakdown Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Technical Service Engineer;
• Affinity with mechanical engineering within an industrial environment;
• A drive for continuous improvement;
• Flexible and able to work under pressure;
• Enthusiastic and a strong team player;
• An analytical and solution-focused approach;
• Service-oriented mindset;
• A down-to-earth attitude and strong sense of responsibility.
